The situation
A services organization running UKG Ready required a reliable, automated connection between their HCM platform and Active Directory to manage user provisioning and access. Like many organizations in this position, they initially looked to the standard connector available for the UKG Ready–AD pairing.
After evaluating that connector's capabilities, it became clear the out-of-the-box functionality fell well short of what the client needed. The standard tooling offered only basic data-passing with limited configurability, leaving gaps that the client's IT and HR teams could not work around without significant manual intervention.
The client engaged RJ Reliance to design and build a custom integration that would handle the specific field mappings, logic, and event triggers their environment required.
How we approached it
RJ Reliance began by conducting a detailed discovery session with the client's HR and IT stakeholders to document the exact data elements, business rules, and synchronization events that the integration needed to support. Understanding where the standard connector broke down was as important as understanding the target state.
With requirements confirmed, the team designed a custom integration architecture built around UKG Ready's available APIs and Active Directory's provisioning model. The solution was scoped to accommodate the client's specific attribute mappings, conditional logic, and timing requirements that the standard connector could not accommodate.
Development followed an iterative approach with regular checkpoints so the client's technical team could validate behavior against real scenarios before the integration moved toward production readiness.
The outcome
The engagement is currently in progress. The custom integration is being built to replace the gaps left by the standard connector with a solution tailored to the client's actual operational rules and Active Directory environment.
When complete, the client will have an automated, rules-driven connection between UKG Ready and Active Directory that removes the manual overhead their team had been absorbing and gives IT and HR a consistent, auditable provisioning process.
